I love Life Wasted. I feel like a lot of people really dislike that opening 3-song run to S/T, but besides the one-two punch of Parachutes/Unemployable it's the only part of the record I feel like they get right.

I like it a lot too, even if it hasn't sounded right live ever since they dropped the key.

Like Binaural, all of my favorite versions of the songs from S/T come from the year they toured on the record.

edit: speaking of which, I just listened to Black Market Avocado for the first time recently. That's awesome, thanks.

Life Wasted is a great tune. This makes me want to crank "Black Market Avocado" again.

it's one of my absolute favorite stretches in the catalog. It's pretty close to my 1-2-3 for the post 2000 era. And both WWS and Comatose have been top 5 songs for me at one point. All 3 were top 10

I voted for Olympic Platinum and I'm dead serious about it.

It's alright. Delete WWS and add Severed Hand, and it's a decent opening.

One of them being in the top 10 doesn't surprise me or seem excessive (though none of them would be in my top 50). Three just seems like a lot.

You also have to understand how much of a breath of fresh air these songs felt like to me. I love when pearl jam is all roar and fire and they basically stopped writing songs like that for the better part of a decade. The beginning of s/t was a homecoming

In their way they are similar songs, and so they all kind of elevated each other.

They are all probably still top 20.

"Life Wasted" for me. Love the bridge, and always found it surprisingly melodic for the lunkheaded rocker it makes itself out to be. One of my favorite songs on "S/T."

I rank it as average to slightly above average. I think Ed sounds pretty weak and that takes away a lot for me. He's singing at an 11 and it doesn't work as well for me as he does on say, My Father's Son.
