These used to be 2 songs that I cared about a lot. I still like both of them, but they've sorta run their course as favorites for me. HTI

Hard to Imagine. Education is the perfect example of average for me; there's nothing wrong with it, but there's nothing that takes it to that next level of the band's songs for me.

For as much as I love "Hard to Imagine"'s slow burning atmospherics, a part of me can't help but feel like maybe it's a little overhyped by PJ's fanbase. But in the right climate I think "Education" could have been a hit--it's venemous and pounding, but also ridiculously catchy, and I can't help but wonder if maybe it wasn't omitted from "Binaural" for reasons similar to "Sad." It gets my vote either way.

Education is on the cusp of being an elite Pearl Jam song for me. It's probably right in the 15-25 range in terms of my favorites at any given moment. It hints at a whole direction that I wish they'd further explored. It's meditatively aggressive, slightly demented, dark, but still insightful. In a weird way it's almost like a more mature, less defensive Do the Evolution to me.

I don't expect this to make sense to anyone else, but I swear it does in my head.

No, that makes perfect sense.

I think it's also one of those songs whose depth transcends what it demands of the listener, and those songs always tend to place high on my lists, particularly when you first hear them as bootlegged album outtakes and you have nothing riding on whether or not they're any good.

I voted for HTI, bit I agree that. It is a bit overhyped, and on a good day I hear what you hear in education

HtI is lovely.

Fun fact - when I typed "HtI" in my phone it wanted to auto-replace it with "bRo". Curious.

Hard to Imagine. Probably overhyped but it is a truly beautiful song.
Education is pretty damn sweet. There is something either lacking or that misses the mark for me. I don't know what it is.

Hard to Imagine stopped getting hyped when they started playing it live again. same with breath...or just about any other song they stopped playing for a while.

tough choice. i love education, its almost hypnotic and the drums give me a boner. hard to imagine is a classic, however.
