Yellow Ledbetter was fun for a long time, but I really don't care if I never hear it again. Meanwhile, Breath is just fantastic.

Yellow Ledbetter is fun to close a show, but I zone out when listening to it in any other setting. Breath is always welcome.

There's a reason it seemingly closed every show for a decade.

It's a classic tune that will always play role in defining this band.

I remember being truly disappointed when it didn't close the show at Alpine Valley in 98 the 2nd time I ever saw this band live, or in KC in 98 the fifth time I saw them, or in Knoxville the 6th time. I was only 50% getting YL to close a show the first 6 times I saw them play, and that bothered me until I saw it another 4 or 5 times. That's when it got old, but it took 12-15 shows for it happen. Now, not getting Release to open a show until #18, that's a different story.

As for the YL studio cut, I remember being initially unimpressed the first time I heard it on the Jeremy single, but that was because I was expecting something else. But the Daughter single changed it completely for me, hearing it in its live glory.

Ledbetter should win, but motherfuckers around here be crazy.
