I only started to kind of enjoy Around the Bend fairly recently. I've liked Just Breathe a lot from the beginning, and the 'I'm a lucky man to count on both hands the ones I love' is one of my favorite lyrics

Let's bring "Just Breathe" out to pasture.

To me, AtB has a lot of real feeling and depth. It's beautiful without being nauseatingly sappy. JB isn't a bad song, but it feels too forced and saccharine.

I don't know that any other Pearl Jam track captures a timeless, postureless gentleness the way Bend does. The most remarkable playing I can think of on any PJ album, and in some ways the most Exile on Mainstreet they ever were.

Around the Bend without a question. I have always loved the sound of Stone's(?) fingers sliding across the strings through the chord changes. It's audible throughout the entire song.

That's a fair complaint. I don't agree, but I can easily see it. I guess I've never found much compelling or beautiful about around the bend

Saccharine I can buy, but forced? Honestly I think "Just Breathe" feels like one of the least forced songs in their catalog--if ever there was a song that felt like it just rolled off Eddie's fingers in five minutes, it's that. The sappiness is offset by the lack of drama in the vocal performance; Eddie sounds truly relaxed and content in it, and it's to the song's advantage.

But of course my vote goes to "Around the Bend" without a second thought.

I think the forced comment applies more to the chorus, with the somewhat jarring influx of drama, given how relaxed the verses are.

The production feels forced. Jeff doesn't do that bassline well and the keys are awful. Ed sounds like he's done one take too many. I'm not the best judge as I haven't heard it for years as I always skip it.

I love Jeff's bass in this song.

look, I trash a lot of sacred cows, but at least I give them the courtesy of listening to them before I do.
