Present Tense is top shelf, Satan's Bed is one step down.

Satan's Bed is maybe 3 up from the bottom on vitalogy (despite, at one point, being my favorite pearl jam song). Present tense is in my top 4 on No Code.

I accidentally voted for Satan's Bed first! While I love the dark side of this song that the band has rarely captured anywhere else (Deep? Rival, maybe?), Present Tense has always been a favorite.

I never slept in...

I love Satan's Bed, but it has to be Present Tense.

Satan's Bed would have nailed it a few years ago but I had to think about this one for awhile. SB just got it but PT is pretty great too.

The whole second half of No Code took a loooooong time to click for me (though the first half still made it one of my favourite albums).

When Present Tense finally did click, it clicked hard, and dragged Mankind and Around the Bend with it to warm the cockles of my heart.

Satan's Bed is merely fine.

Screw this match up too. Once Present Tense kicks in, it's one of my favorite things PJ has done. Jack is so good. However, I listen to Satan's Bed more frequently. It and MFC have always been underrated gems to me, so I guess I'll give the not to SB.

I think I could to. I actually fast fwd through the first 2+ minutes sometimes. I don't really like the way they play if live, shocker, it's too fast. I love the album outro though. It's easily one of the coolest things the band has ever done.

I love the outro but I dislike everything before it so much I never get that far.

Use your media player and start it at the 2:50 mark. You get the more intense singing from Ed, then shortly there after that beautiful percussion from Jack kicks in.

People actually skip half of Present Tense? Weird.

Present Tense is majestic. But I am kinda tired of hearing it live. I think they've played it at all but one show I've been to. But it gets the vote here, fo sho.

Sometimes. More often than not, I don't skip, but sometimes I just want the good stuff. For me, the first 2 and a half minutes are kind of like a 2 star song; the outtro though is like a 5 star song.
