Going with Not for You because of its place as my previous fave PJ tune. I miss angry Ed.

Me too. Like you said though, NFY just sounds so fucking powerful. Grievance has a more passive aggressive feel to it. Like Ed was sick of screaming at that point. Which is ok too. Tough match.

"Grievance" on the strength of its compositional quirks. "Not For You" has a lot going for it but when it goes up against the heavy hitters it loses a few points on songcraft.

Grievance. Easy.

Edit: fuck! 7-16?? it's gonna lose.

Not for You. I'm not against political songs but Pearl Jam rarely gets them right.

I typically don't enjoy Pearl Jam's political songs. I'm not exactly a big fan of Not for You but Grievance makes it into my category of political Pearl Jam songs I don't enjoy and outweights Not For You.

I saw that thread and it is a good idea. I'm going to take some time before formulating a response.
I want to say the divide is subtlety and while I think that is a large part of it that's too easy and I feel there's more. I'll stew on for a bit.

This is a tough one. Two strong songs, off of two strong albums. Shit, I don't know what to do. NFY was once one of my top PJ songs, but it has fallen over the years. Grievance is really cool and has always been one of my favorite Binaural songs. Damn. Hmm, well, I guess I'll go for Not For You, but I can be swayed.
