HELP! PJ Wedding playlist

Hey all!
Im new to the forums, so forgive me if this isn't appropriate to post!
My fiancee and I got engaged at a PJ show in Philly in October ( I asked him, thankfully he said yes ) and we're doing a wedding all about us! Imagine, we're not listening to friends/family, and since pretty much the only music we listen to is PJ, we are making our own playlist for the reception and I'm getting overwhelmed putting it together!
Would love some suggestions from some other PJ fans out there :)

Congratulations and welcome to the board :)

For what it's worth, I'm not sure pearl jam is a great wedding playlist band. Actually, I'm sure they're not. Many of the songs aren't particularly danceable (or even fun in the party sense). Do you just want background music for a reception, stuff you want your guests interacting with, or just a few songs to dance to?

Beyond Oceans, Just Breathe, Wishlist, Parachutes and Future Days (around the bend is at least gentle and tangentially appropriate) there aren't that many purely romantic moments in the catalog. It makes sense to do what you want to do, but even though it is your party and your day if the people around you are having a great time you'll have an even better one yourself. It probably just makes sense to incorporate a few of those into a broader setlist rather than push a 3 hour playlist. I mean at what point do you really want people listening to long road or immortality at a wedding?

Oh, and obviously the song for your post vows exit should be The Fixer.

Eh. My advice is to pick a handful of songs and let the DJ sprinkle in a broader range of music. My wife and I picked out specific songs for specific events (cake cutting, first dance, last song, etc.); We also selected songs for the segments the reception was divided into (after the entrance, dinner, dessert, etc.). Trying to make a whole playlist for the night of just PJ seems like a bit too much.

As people are coming into the reception, you want some light background stuff:

Master/Slave
Arc

Dinner music is the tough one. Go the easy route and just put on the Mansfield acoustic set.

To get people on to the dance floor, especially the older family members, lets go with:

Barack Around the Clock
Take Me Out to the Ball Game (EV)
Dock of the Bay (good suggestion earlier in the thread)
Little Sister

Then, because there is always cheesy hip hop songs played at white people's weddings (I'm assuming you are white):

The Real Thing feat. Cypress Hill
99 Problems feat. Jay-Z

Finally, when everyone is good and drunk, all the sing-along and crazy dancing songs will come into play:

Evenflow
Jeremy
Betterman
Alive
I See Red
Dirty Frank
U
Kick Out the Jams (cover)

and so on and so forth.

First/last dance you are on your own. And sorry if I assumed wrong that you are white. If you aren't white, or have a lot of non-white people coming to the reception, just don't play Whipping.

Yea this isn't a good idea. Play some PJ, sure, but not for the entire shindig, it's not a good idea.

Basically.
You two will be the people that notice the music the least.

if he doesn't start crying from the emotional purity of your warbly, crooked gift, hold the microphone away just long enough to whisper to him that you're pregnant with his best friend's kid. then continue.

it's just not going to work for me if he's not crying while you sing it, is the thing.

If Thin Air isn't part of the playlist, you're doing it wrong. :D
