want to do things that you normally need like a home set up thing to do it but you don't have like this home thing because it's not your thing or your home?

ok, so I want access to cable programming (premium channels sure, but i'm more interested in second tier programming like syfy or bbc america stuff) without having a home cable set up - so basically just on a PC or laptop or whatever kind of tablet device.

also internet access type stuff - like I'd sign up for netflix via internet streaming etc, but do you have to have it tied to a residential access account or is there a way to get it tied to just the pc/or device?

Netflix and Hulu is account based. It will be tied to your Roku or iPad or PC until you replace those devices.

mary, do you have an existing cable outlet in your house?

We quit cable when we moved to our new place..I plugged into the old cable jack here and then went to the settings on my tv and had it program whatever channels were out there..I get about 110 channels many of which include basic cable channels..syfy, bbc, cnn, cnbc, bravo, etc..its worth a shot anyway

i have cable where i live but for some period of time when i move i'll be staying with a sister who says 'we don't have cable' and i've never been to her house (it's technically my newish brother-in-law's house) so i'm unsure if they have a cable hook up or not. I'll be checking that though.
I don't even expect to stay with her long but even if it's just a month or so I'd rather have my own access... i'll probably have to find 'alternate methods' anyway
:/

are we allowed to post those "alternate methods" websites here? I use one but am always looking for better ones if anyone wants to post them

It's account based, which means it isn't tied to any device. You log in, you watch. Provided one of the soul-sucking leeches you live with isn't already watching something.

I don't know about Hulu, but Netflix allows for up to 3 simultaneous streams per account. I share my account with my girlfriend and my little siblings, who live in another country. Sometimes we'll all be watching different things at the same time.

Are you gonna have to use dial-up when you get there? I might have a 56k modem lying around here, somewhere.

Is that new? If I recall, I used to get error messages when trying to get more than one of us on.

I've used it that way for over a year.

Must be different here. I pay $7.99 (the only Instant Streaming option here) and have had 3 simultaneous streams going a bunch of times.

It's how I found out my 9 year old brother was watching The L Word.
