Now that it's officially unlikely to get shows this year in the northeast, the 2014 thread is pointless.

They'll hit the studio in the spring which means album in fall of 2016.

It's not cos they're more popular here. It's almost 40 different markets, almost all with the same currency which is killing the dollar.
It's simply more worthwhile on a cash basis and for coverage / profile in all those countries media. It's a win win for them.

Wouldn't it be more profitable to crank out new records every years vs. touring?

It would be most profitable if they released another great record.

Can't tell if you're both kidding or not.

They're an independent band funding their own records and promotion of same. Even the huge players don't make money off records anymore. 'Because the internet'.

No money. None. Whatsoever. To be had in albums anymore.

Hence the relentless mercy blitzkrieg and expensive gig tickets.

10c ticket lottery format changes: They move to a "Do The Evolution" survival of the fittest battle royale. You just show up 3 hours before any show that you wish to attend, check in as a 10c member, and are sent to a holding area 1/4 mile from the arena. 1 hour before the show they open the gate and you do whatever you have to do to be one of the first XXXX people into the 10c seating area. Everybody else is SOL. What you do for two hours in the holding area to strategize with, or disable, other participants is your business.

This should be done as a reality show.

I wasn't kidding. I thought that cranking out albums more quickly vs. touring would be more profitable because I assume that the costs related to creating an album are less ($$, time, resources) than that of touring.

Do any independent bands crank out records faster than PJ, or does the independence hinder this for all?

I'm guessing one of two things:
1) A tour/year similar to 2008. No new music, playing mainly the larger markets and a few cities they skipped the last two years (a couple Florida dates, Boston proper, NYC MSG, Camden, Toronto, Montreal, Lollapalooza).
2) Canada/South America similar to 2005/2011.
