Future Days of PJ live?

This is how I wish the next phase of PJ live would go... Play an album front-to-back, or some variation of it (LB live mix, Binaural alt-mix, etc), Intermission, and then play a unique set of rare gems, greatest hits, and covers. Hell, they could even try a similar stage setup for the time of whatever album they decided to play. For example, if you go in and see the five lantern towers in the background, you know they're playing Yield... If you go in and see typewriter keys, then you know it's Backspacer (and you quickly run out and try to scalp your ticket stub to someone
I've also thought about the residency idea in a theater, in each city. Or maybe a theater warm-up show for a bigger show in the same city...
Any other daydreamers with thoughts on how this band can make the live show interesting again?

1. Rehearse
2. Mix up the placement of tried and true songs.
3. Tour a main set night after night, become a well oiled machine. Pearl Jam was the best live band in the world at one point and it had nothing to do with their set list or playing uber cool b sides that are so good they never got worked into real songs.
4. They need to Understand their own limits it is not 1992 anymore
Here is how I would set up a tour for let's saying the Lightning Bolt tour. There would be two main sets like this
1.YLB/ Footsteps
2.Hail, Hail/ Cordaroy
3. Lightning Bolt
4. Mind Your Manners
5. Grievance
6. Not For you
7. Daughter
8. Evenflow
9. Sirens
10. In My Tree/ Tremor Christ
11. I Got Id/Jeremy
12. Black
13.Do The Evolution
14.Lifewasted/ Unthought Known
15. Down/ Wishlist
16.I am Mine/ Nothing As It Seams
17. Blood
18. RVM
First encore is a flexable sit down set geared to the traveling super fan this would be an example
19. Let Me Sleep
20. Of a Girl
21. Oceans
22. Nothing Man
23. Parting Ways
24. Man Of The Hour
25. Immortality
26. Acoustic Porch or SOLAT
27. Betterman
28. Given To Fly
29. Elderly Woman
30. Alive

More Even Flow. Less creative second encores.

Evenflow is wore out but it almost has to be played.

A wider variety of limited edition merchandise, obviously.

On second thought, Evenflow with a really long guitar solo would sound fresh

I will be genuinely disappointed if they ever open a show with Yellow Ledbetter; surely that would be the ultimate capitulation to cheap gimmickry.

More Even Flow? More personalized merch?? YL to open???
I do think the Denver sticker will have a pot leaf on it. Likely there's a reason why they're ending their tour here
I'd be fine to NEVER hear EFlo live again, and YL belongs only at the end of a set... if they're gonna play it. It's the perfect ender!

Am I the only one who thinks they need to do something different live? Many bands have done the whole-album thing, and it's pretty fucking cool! I've seen Floyd do DSOTM, Waters do The Wall, Primus Sailed the Sea of Cheese, SG Superunknown, A Perfect Circle did a whole tour where they played 3 nights in each city, and each night they played one of their albums.
I may be mistaken, but I don't think PJ has ever done anything like this yet, and I think it'd be cool if they toured like this... fans would know they're doing an album, but have no idea which one they will get until the show begins. I could take this stupid hypothetical even further... whichever drummer played on the album plays that night
Seriously, this band needs to change shit up, and they're trying... it's just fucking pathetic! Go followed by Why GO??? You Are>Who You Are??? Hanging lights to hang on like a fucking monkey... Woohoo! There goes Eddie flying by! They're turning into the Rolling Stones of 1997, but without the elaborate stage setup. At least Mick could remember how to sing the fucking songs, FFS!
How 'bout some REAL ideas, or is all the creativity 'round here taken up by the Best Decade tournament and the RM draft?

I honestly have no desire to see an album played in its entirety. I'd love them to tighten up their playing and put on focused shows. That's really the only thing that could ever make me excited to see them live again. If that means they cut the length of their performance back to two hours and change, then so be it. I'd rather see them kill it for twenty-one songs than meander through thirty.

I agree with you on tighter, more focused sets. What about a smaller, more intimate, acoustic-ish run of theater shows? I really think PJ is too drunk off the 20-50K fans at each show (well, there's also the wine). We need some Hope and Change in PJ live.

I'd like to think you're right that playing in smaller venues might help eliminate some of the party atmosphere. But then again, Ed plays in pretty small places for his solo shows and those still have a party atmosphere. So there's a good chance that even in a venue with 3,000 people it's still gonna feel like a BBQ.

They need more shows in Europe, they should tour there twice a year every year.

The atmosphere at the solo shows is goddamned scary. I felt like I was at a lunatic convention.

I would like to see some changes in their live shows. I think the whole album idea is great, with whatever added to it.
For instance, I've been thinking about a whole Binaural-era show. Something like all of Binaural played, with most of the b-sides, and perhaps other songs that fit the Binaural mood.
