Any other Interpol fans on the board? New album (first without bassist Carlos Dengler) due September 8.
First single "All The Rage Back Home" released today:

Lookin' forward to it. Cool video, decent song. I like how it drives and mixes with the surfing footage, but it also seems like a weird combo from them. Whatever.

Turn on the Bright Lights is one of my favorite albums but they haven't put out anything really solid since Antics. I'll give this a chance though.

I love 'em, and I actually thought their S/T album was EASILY their best since TOTBL (which is in my all time top 10). Looking forward to this, though Carlos's departure worries me.

not doing anything for me at first listen. the production sounds kind of bad to me, it's all muddy and everything blends together.

I was shocked when I saw them a couple of weeks ago and noticed that the guy from Secret Machines (Brandon Curtis) was playing keys and doing backing vocals from them. He's much too talented to be simply hanging out in the background for a band like Interpol.

I usually love Interpol, but I must agree here. The song sounds like a near-indecipherable mess of noise.

I love it, and I usually couldn't care less about Interpol. Very shoegazy.

Yeah, that sounds alright and I haven't heard any Interpol since that first record.
No production issues to these ears and I'm usually pretty sensitive to such things, I think most popular modern records sound like complete junk.

Sounds pretty good on first listen - very reminiscent of Antics (which is a good thing )

Bump for this album coming out today. I'm pleasantly surprised by how good it is - My Desire and My Blue Supreme are early faves

I streamed this once (wanted to wait to get the CD before I really dug into it), and yeah, I really liked it. I always really like Interpol. It sounds a little bit different than their previous albums; bigger, more echo-y, kind of surf rock-influenced. "My Blue Supreme" is great.

After a few more listens, while I still like this, I do think it's their worst album so far. I think it flirts with being a little boring; it actually doesn't sound as "different" as I thought at first. In fact, as far as I can tell, it sounds almost exactly the same as Our Love to Admire. And I also think it's their most downbeat and depressing album, which I'm not loving.
I don't know about this one.
