Americana/America Folk etc...
just none of that country music.
i saw that other thread, but there was just too much of what some of my friends listen to up in there.
created this specifically for Jamestown Revival as i searched and nothing came up. but let's talk The Devil Makes Three, Shovels and Rope, OCMS, Trampled by Turtles, The Wood Brothers, Milk Carton Kids

I'm more of a lonely depressed guy with a guitar making stripped down folk kind of guy. I don't trust these bands with nice hair and clean clothes having fun.

That was the opening track, and this is #2. Pretty good 1-2 punch.

Re: Americana/America Folk etc...
Trace by Son Volt is one of my favorite albums of all time. The Americana thing has been my go to for going on a couple years now.
Possible entries (some obvious): Neil Young, American Aquarium, Justin Townes Earle, Steve Earle, Flying Burrito Brothers, The Band, Decemberists, Fifth on the Floor, Jason Isbell, Jayhawks, Uncle Tupelo, Ryan Adams, Sturgill Simpson, Bob Dylan, Band of Horses, Andrew Bird, Band of Heathens.
Some of those might be a bit of a stretch, but they're all bands at least on the fringe with at least 1 album I've really gotten into in the past 2 years or so.

We've seen Isbell twice in the past year now. What a great live show that is, although it would be better if his wife would join him on stage.

I saw him once at a small place out here in Denver by myself. My wife couldn't make it due to work. It was a fantastic show. He's such a good songwriter who's historically had such bad production on his albums that his live show just stands apart.E.H. Ruddock wrote:We've seen Isbell twice in the past year now. Southeastern was definitely a step in the right direction.

Re: Americana/America Folk etc...
We were there to watch them at Red Rocks on Wednesday night. Spoon played before them then the show was postponed for lightning and heavy rain. 30 minutes later we gave up and drove home. 30 minutes after that they went on; starting after 10:30 PM. So, now, I still need to catch them.red calzolaio wrote:really want to catch the Decemberists with Shovels and Rope down in Columbus on Sunday.Gods' Die wrote:Trace by Son Volt is one of my favorite albums of all time. If you don't listen to John Prine you are doing it wrong.

Would Townes Van Zandt fit in this thread?
