What's Your All-Time Favorite TV Show?

Post by LoathedVermin72 »

I have a hard time deciding. Might be Seinfeld. Or The Simpsons (in its prime). Sometimes I think it could be Tim and Eric Awesome Show, Great Job! or Stella. Tough decision.

How 'bout you, RM?

Comedy: Arrested Development
Drama: Homicide, Justified, Hannibal

I can't break it down to a single one though.

1. Mad Men
2. Lost
3. The X-Files
4. Friday Night Lights
5. Twin Peaks
6. Six Feet Under
7. Game of Thrones
8. Louie
9. How I Met Your Mother
10. Parks and Recreation
11. The Office
12. It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia
13. Friends
14. Girls
15. Quantum Leap
16. Cheers
17. Breaking Bad

Note: I have not yet watched Deadwood, The Wire or The Sopranos. And I've been told that all three of those will be in my top ten once I do watch them.

Note 2: Twin Peaks is that low only because it was two seasons and cancelled without a resolution. It will likely move up to the #2 or #3 spot if the coming third season is any good at all.

Shit, I forgot about It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia.... that should be on there, too. Probably right before or right after Parks and Recreation.

LV72 is really doing good things for A&E.

This is tough. There's a lot of good 'uns to choose from. Fawlty Towers has a nigh-on flawless 2-season run, Adventure Time is really growing on me. Community, Scrubs and South Park are high up on my list. Lost, Ally McBeal (don't ask). I guess WWE counts as a TV show, though their weekly programming is usually shit.

I think I'm going to go with Breaking Bad. I came to cable TV too late for The Sopranos, and I've never got into The Wire, and those are kinda the triumvirate of television drama.

Favourite laugh-tracked sitcom (which I usually can't stand): Frasier.

The Sopranos. All-time favorite.

Simpsons seasons 3-9 fill me with joy. And Space Ghost: Coast to Coast was a tremendous influence on me growing up.

The Simpsons, seasons 3-12 prob tops it for me.

Seinfeld is prob a distant second followed by a lot of the usual suspects already listed here.

Lots of love for The Simpsons and Seinfeld. Recently I've been watching a lot more of both of them and it's amazing how well the best material holds up. I've returned to lots of Simpsons episodes I haven't seen in years and there are so many layers that I've never noticed.

I honestly think I'd have to split it into a few categories and name one from each. Comedy is probably Seinfeld (Simpsons close second). Episodic drama could be the X-Files (because usually you could just jump in and watch every episode). I'm re-watching Lost and that might be my favorite serial network drama, even with all the crummy episodes. And my favorite pay-cable-series-that's-basically-a-250-hour-movie is definitely The Wire. I dunno about my favorite basic-cable series, I'd have to think about it.

And Jeopardy! still counts as a TV show, folks. Way up there in the rankings.
