Movie: The Neon Demon (2016)
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt2053373/
Nicolas Winding Refn making a sex-filled, female-led horror film. This will very obviously be the best movie of 2016.

i find it hard to not pick 2001: A Space Odyssey. 8 1/2, Pierrot le Fou, Ikiru, and Theodore Rex are also in the mix.

i've only seen 8 1/2, juliet of the spirits, satyricon, la dolce vita, and la strada, and i detect little variation in quality between them. 8 1/2 just has that x-factor.LoathedVermin72 wrote:What are your thoughts on post-8 1/2 Fellini?Alex wrote:i find it hard to not pick 2001: A Space Odyssey. 8 1/2, Pierrot le Fou, Ikiru, and Theodore Rex are also in the mix.

It was. It had its flaws, but I actually felt that its quirkiness was of a type that played up to them, making them feel natural and intended.

Bronson is my fourth-favorite movie of all time. So, you know, I'm sure you'll hate it and whatnot.BurtReynolds wrote:Refn ain't all that.

Re: Movie: The Neon Demon (2016)
I didn't see Bronson. Drive was okay but similar to There Will Be Blood in that, if you take away the performance of the lead, I don't think you have much a movie. And Only God Forgives was ... disappointing.
Not a big horror movie fan, so I'm guessing I won't like this very much. But I'll watch a trailer and consider it more then.
