MAD SEASON: Deluxe Edition Of 'Above' Due In April - Jan. 7, 2013
Legacy Recordings — the catalogue division of Sony Music Entertainment — will release a newly expanded deluxe edition of "Above", the first and only album to be completed by Seattle-based rock supergroup MAD SEASON.
Formed in 1994, MAD SEASON is vocalist Layne Staley (ALICE IN CHAINS), guitarist Mike McCready (PEARL JAM), drummer/percussionist Barrett Martin (SCREAMING TREES) and bassist John Baker Saunders (THE WALKABOUTS, LAMONT CRANSTON BAND).
The deluxe edition of MAD SEASON's "Above" is a three-disc set comprised of two CDs and one DVD. It includes the original studio album and a host of extras such as previously unreleased tracks from the band's unfinished second album with new lyrics and vocals by Mark Lanegan (SCREAMING TREES), full audio plus the first official DVD release of MAD SEASON's last show ever performed — "Live At The Moore", an unreleased full concert video of the band's New Year's Eve performance from now-defunct Seattle club RKCNDY, a full-color collector's booklet and more.
The deluxe edition, and a separate digital configuration, will be available Monday, April 1. In addition, there will be a 12-inch 2LP expanded edition vinyl available on Record Store Day, April 20. Content featured in the "Above" deluxe edition will be available through iTunes with audio mastered for iTunes and a separate standalone longplay video.

Absolutely cannot wait. I hope they're still working on the 'second' album Mike talked about a few months ago. Though given Mike's track record on talking about future releases, I guess I should hope too much.

The bonus DVD footage looks cool. It'd be nice to see an upgrade on the Moore Theatre show too but I actually think it's a bit of a shame that there aren't more extras. The Moore Show has been freely available on bootleg for so long and to be frank I think the band are in pretty bad shape and only really put in a half decent performance on the Moore video.

I don't buy much music (and with Spotify, I don't feel guilty about it either), but I think I'll get this.

I generally can care less about reissues, but this is one i'll jump in on. The DVD makes it worth it. I have not looked close i hope they have a blu ray of it.
the extra songs are icing on the cake.

Amazon typically cuts the price again the day before the release and keeps the low price for a week before it goes up again.

I really enjoy this song. I wish McCready still sounded as derivative as this on Pearl Jam records.

Started great but the chorus was kinda underwhelming and Mike's solos were just effects and wanking.
