I can't pretend to be a big fan of Bruno Mars, as I've never heard anything that wasn't playing on the radio or at a club, but I've pretty much liked to loved everything the guy puts his stamp on. The guy is a super-talent and the sky is probably the limit for him.

I'm not at all familiar with Ronson, but he has made a good first impression.

Assumed the dude was a joke. Until last year's Super Bowl half-time show. Now I'm a big fan. Dude can BRING IT.

He does that song that sounds just like The Police, right?

yes.

I don't love Bruno Mars generally. I don't dislike him, and I enjoy him quite a bit more uptempo than when he's ballading. But the song in the OP is great.

This is the one you tweeted at me about, right Skitch?

It's ok. Sounds a lot like Cameo to me, which isn't a bad thing. I dunno, I probably wouldn't go out of my way to listen to it again. It's the kind of think I think a band like Chromeo does a way better job of pulling off. It's easily the best thing I've heard from him though. I couldn't stand that one that sounded like the Police. He's a guy who I feel like isn't as good as the people who adore him think, but nowhere near as bad as his haters act like he is. I could see him being a good gateway artist for younger fans to get exposed to older artists they might not otherwise seek out.

I agree with this pretty much entirely. Talented guy who performs some fun (if disposable) pop stuff, but shows the proper amount of reverence to his influences.

He co-wrote "Fuck You" with Cee-Lo Green, didn't he? I love that song.

It is his glaring influences that I think draws me in the most, so yes to this as well.

I don't think I'm familiar with Chromeo. Heard of him(?), but I'm not aware if I've heard a song.

there's a song called My Type by a group called Same Hotel that's really good. Been played constantly here the last few months.
