the different producer thread

With all that Brendan O'Brien trashing going around I thought it would be interesting to speculate about a different producer for their next record.

Interesting choices: Jacknife Lee, Alan Moulder, Alain Johannes, Danger Mouse, Rick Rubin, Daniel Lanois, Steve Albini, Tucker Martine, Butch Vig,......

But actually I would like them to work with 'John Leckie'.

Discuss! :)

Not Rick rubin or Jacknife lee as these are two of the masters of loudness war! :(

Brian Eno could have been different and interesting!

It would be really cool if they just did it themselves. Stone has studio and I really like how Moonlander sounds. Just do a quick record without outside influence. Ed talked about how cool it would be to just record another album within a year and put it out without a huge buildup. They should do exactly that on their own.

When did Ed mention that?

I agree that would be really cool....god knows they must have enough extra material kicking around.

Not that anybody remotely believes this band would do that kind of thing.

No, the one we thought was fake until it actually showed up on Rolling Stone and got put into the reviews thread, which some of you don't seem to be reading

Jacknife Lee, based on the strength of REM's last two records.

Andy Wallace.....he did the final mix on Nevermind which IMO sounds better than Butch Vigs..hes also produced some great sounding albums

Jeff Buckley-Grace
Blind Melon-Soup (unreal with headphones)
Phish-The Story of the Ghost (same as above)
Rollins Band-End of Silence
White Zombie- La Sexorcisto

Notable Mixes-Evil Empire, From the Muddy Banks, Freak Show, Theres Nothing left to Lose....

I actually dont mind BOB too much but if they were going to switch it up id like it to be Wallace or maybe Lillywhite
