D4 Round 2: Swallowed Whole vs. Severed Hand

swallowed whole, but I like these pretty much equally. Swallowed Whole was the first pearl jam song Ellie requested, so that's the tie breaker.

It still surprises me how under appreciated Swallowed Whole is around these parts. Does it suffer due the simple fact that it is on Lightning Bolt?

Probably. It's a pretty good song, though. I don't think it would sounds out of place on Yield and I definitely prefer it to Severed Hand (I said - fuckkkk yeaaaaaahhhh)

I don't have that many issues with the lightning bolt production, but I think this is a strong potential song that really gets flattened out in its presentation, where it definitely needs to feel a bit more open and free than it does.

Fair enough. I personally find it to be a good space for the guys moving forward as far as brighter up-tempo songs go.

I like the guitar solos, but I hate Ed's vocals and the rest of the music is just annoying.

Like wise re: SW, not LB. LB the album is meh with a few good ones, a few average ones and a few bad ones. SW just, I don't know. It's just not the sound I like from PJ, sounds like it needs to be on Into The Wild. It's too much of an Eddie solo song, and if it were, it may not rub me the wrong way.

However, I do like Sleeping By Myself on LB, not as much on Ukulele Songs, so go figure.
