Division 3 Round 4bd: Faithfull vs. Grievance

Grievance, easily. The studio version isn't perfect--the muddy compression of Binaural doesn't do this song any favors--but it's a passionate performance, arguably eddie's best set of political lyrics, and has that finale that thrills despite the best effort of the production to contain it.

Faithful(l)(?): has a chorus that's a bit too smug by half (even when my atheism was at its most obnoxious I thought this was too much), and I just don't like the nasal quality of Eddie's performance, which is matched by the thin, whiny tone on the guitar.

Grievance is great, but Faithfull is a Final Four contender for me.

Faithfull. It's top end Yield for me while Grievance is middle of the road Binaural.

I don't really like either of these songs. Faithfull because who gives a crap!?

Another one that isn't all that close for me.

I wouldn't mind seeing a Faithfull vs. Insignificance final.

I think Binaural has the best production and Grievance sounds great. It is such a breath of fresh air in their discog. The guitars aren't over distorted or up too up front. They are clean yet mean. They let the songs aggression speak for itself instead of trying too hard to to gain attention. So great.

Completely agree. See my post in last rounds matchup but otherwise I fucking love Grievance.
