I am looking for a concert to travel to between now and September.
Got a flight credit that I need to use before it expires.
Who is touring and where are they playing? I would prefer to stay in the US, and ideally visit a cool venue (like Redrocks or the Hollywood Bowl, etc.).
If I can catch an MLB game in the same city/area, even better.

donald fagen's step daughter amy helm is playing nyc on april 9th
The best band ever is playing the best album ever in its entirety in DC, NYC, Boston, Toronto, Chicago, LA, & SF. The tour is at the end of April/early May, so I'm sure one of the ten teams in those cities are playing.

My Morning Jacket - Friday, August 14 at Red Rocks. Stay in Denver and catch the Padres play the Rockies on the 15th.

Ooohhh!! I like it.
I actually just found my own itinerary which would also be a good option. Royal Blood at the Fiddler's Green Amphitheatre on Sunday 8/16 with a Rockies home day game earlier that afternoon. Fly in Sunday morning, fly out Monday evening. Oh by the way, the Foo Fighters are playing that Royal Blood show also...
QUESTION for anyone familiar with the Denver area: Which is easier to get to? Red Rocks or Fiddler's Green? Are there shuttles available for either? Does Fiddler's Green suck?

I think I'm lining up on this plan myself. Though I think I'll skip the Rockies game and get some disc golf in.

The combination of MMJ and Red Rocks is gonna be hard to pass up.
Looking around a little, it seems like there is public transit service to Fiddlers Green. Will I have to rent a car to get to/from Red Rocks? Looks like it is about 2 hours from the Denver airport. How is traffic/parking around the venue?

You shouldn't have any issues.

Changed the thread title so it was more apt.
Anyway, with Red Rocks...I would love some advice considering that it's outside of the Denver area.
Is it very similar to the Gorge? Things that suck about the Gorge:
- You have to drive. No other way to get there. It is 2+ hours from Seattle.
- Traffic getting out of the parking lots, on this tiny little one-lane road, back to civilization takes FOREVER.
- So you pretty much have to camp overnight.
- There is one small hotel nearby that is super expensive and always fully booked.
So all that being said how does Red Rocks compare in terms of modes of travel, lodging nearby, parking, etc.?

iMaps is telling me 41 miles from the airport. They are on opposite sides of the city.
So really I'm trying to get advice on how much of a bitch it will be to get there on a Friday afternoon, should I rent a car, etc.

Ohhh, directly from the airport. Yeah, the Denver airport is practically in Wyoming

I would love hear some other ideas for bands/cities/venues.
Like a random place I've never been - New Mexico or something...anything good happening outside of major cities?

Great metal fest out in the middle of nowhere California (well, Santa Ana). I only wish I could make this happen.
