Personally, I'll agree. I don't think there is better movie that cradles the human condition.

I think it's a fine movie and one of the rare cases when I don't mind a happy ending, but it shouldn't be No. 1. For prison movies, I'll take Cool Hand Luke, Midnight Express and Hunger.

Probably not even as good as 2 of the best picture nominees from 1994. Both Pulp Fiction and Quiz Show are better.

I've been soured on Pulp Fiction by the fact that QT has become to stylistic violence what Tim Burton is to cartoony grim.

Shawshank is awesome. And probably the best film of its year. But it isn't even the best film of the 1990s, let alone the best film of all time.
Maybe top 10, definitely top 25.

I like Quiz Show. It's a really good movie. But doesn't hold up to multiple viewings the way Shawshank does.
Also, I own Shawshank. I don't own Quiz Show. That's gotta mean something.

Frank Darabont is the only guy who can make a great movie out of a Stephen King book. He should be consider one of the best directors from his time.

I don't know. The Shining is pretty great. Misery is pretty great. Stand By Me is pretty great. Carrie is pretty great.

All his SK movies are great, The Mist is better than the book and he did such a an amazing job with The Green Mile...

You dont like Carrie?? Its one of the best movies from De Palma...Sissy Spacek and Piper Laurie are so great in it.
