One-hit wonders, egregiously so.

Name your "one-hit wonders" who actually had good careers or good records overall despite the reputation they've been given.

Mine has to be Blind Melon...both their proper records are pretty fantastic.

One might be able to argue that Radiohead and Beck were one hit wonders.

Very true...I really think they were gonna get better too. Soup had new ideas and expansions/changes from their first record, and where they were gonna go could have been pretty special by decade's end. Tragic.

Does Sinéad O'Connor count? I have always loved her first album, The Lion and the Cobra.

I had this as my ringtone for several years. Once during a snobby undergrad Beatles course I forgot to silence my phone and lost all credibility amongst my classmates.

I don't know over there, but over here, for the mainstream audience, the White Stripes definitely are.
