Outside Magazine is doing a March Madness-style tourney to determine the best town in 'Murica... I personally think the addition of Houston into the brackets invalidates the whole contest, but I'd like to know which towns YOU think are the best for enjoying the great outdoors and all it has to offer. After my Spring Break adventure down the Green River through Canyonlands NP, I definitely have to nominate as my #1 choice:
Moab, Utah

Great camping along the Colorado River, access to two NP's (Arches and Canyonlands), a very pleasant downtown district with a brewery (Zak's... home of the Polygamy Porter
), a few cool restaurants, bike trails through the town, shops, coffee (Dark Side of the Bean)... the La Sal mountain range in the distance, and it's just far enough away from everywhere else that it doesn't outgrow itself.
other Honorable Mentions are as follows:
Estes Park, CO (except in the Summer tourist season)
Glenwood Springs, CO
Santa Fe, NM
Jerome, AZ
