That's the point my friend made, but could he do that to someone that big? His throat is larger than a person. And smaug flies and can breathe fire from far away. If Vader could choke him wouldn't he burn before that?

Horse shit! I've got this:
1) Something that big? Yoda lifted Luke's X-wing out of the Dagobah swamp. Size matters not. That shit is basic.
2) When Admiral Ozzel came out of light speed too early, Vader choked him through fucking FaceTime. He's not going to need to get close to Smaug.
