I'm away from my 8-track/mic etc, but I've been recording with an acoustic directly into my laptop with Audacity. There's a ton of hiss, but I thought I'd share one:

That was nice!
audacity has a feature where you can cut & past a sample of the hiss noise and then eliminate if from the entrie song.
you would click "effect" at the top, and then choose "noise removal" and go from there, fyi

Can you paste that hiss noise into another file to use?

A lot of times capturing a noise profile for noise reduction ends up stripping out more than you want though.

It would be nice if you could jar up that noise profile and use it in a marinade.
