This one could've been a 60s or 70s song though, the production is pretty nondescript. It's only 90s-sounding because we remember it as being from the 90s, which I guess is as valid as any other criteria for this stupid thread so nevermind

I think this is the right answer. Also "What is Love" by Haddaway. Or something by Republica or Alanis Morrissette or Ace of Base.

I really like these guys. This was my first concert. Spring of 1995 at the Ranch Bowl in Omaha. PJ played there a few years earlier.

Too grungey. The 90's became way more pop-rocky in the mid to late decade.

I don't know though man. It's ridiculous how massive that song was. Hard not to think of that song when you think of the 90s.

I will throw Mr. Jones in there. I'm a massive Counting Crows fan and that probably does not even make my top 50 of my favorite songs of theirs. It was a huge song though and still is.

A few more....

You Get What You Give (One of the best pop songs the last 20 years IMHO)

California Love

Big Poppa

Wonderwall

No Scrubs

Jump (Yeah. I addressed the elephant in the room. This song still fucking owns!)

I could be wrong, but I think he was asking what the most 90s sounding song is, not necessarily the most popular.

Right. I think that is what he means as well. I did not think too hard about it. Just named the first few 90s songs that came into my head.
