Couldn't really find a thread already covering this...

Does anyone here currently have a projector (and screen) that you use for watching movies in your back yard?

I'm looking for a good one that will display on a screen that is approx. 100"

There are so many projectors to choose from...prices all over the board...any tips?

We have two projectors: A $3,000 BenQ (from my wife's previous job) that has 1080P resolution and a $400 ViewSonic with 800 x 600 native resolution. The BenQ has only marginally better picture quality and is actually too dim to use in our living room. The ViewSonic up-converts to 1080P nicely, is brighter, has better controls and a bulb with a better life-span than the BenQ.

My advice would be to worry about brightness first (lumens), then worry about resolution.

Optoma makes some really nice and affordable projectors. A neighbor has one that he uses to do exactly what you are looking to do.

If you want to go cheap:

Something a little more expensive:

I think there’s dedicated thread on this stuff. Tech support forum, maybe?
