So I saw this trailer with Star Wars, and frankly it was one of the most effective trailers in recent years. Not quick cuts, or showing everything, or giving away every plot and joke. Just a scene from the movie that made it look very entertaining.

I have a visceral reaction to advertising and promotion. There's just something about salesmanship that grates on me on a very base level and I react very negatively towards it. I want those people to suffer and I want their enterprises to fail.

This one scene is awesome, and I'd watch a whole movie of this. But something tells me the fox and his buddy are the main characters, and this is probably the best part of the movie.

Perhaps the best single scene. But Jason Bateman is worth the risk to me.

Anyone seen this and would it be okay for a 4 year old (possibly a 2 year old too)?

its basically a Sandra Bullock buddy cop movie in animated form, so your kids might lose a few IQ points. Otherwise its fine.

Most parenting site reviews are 50/50 on it saying a lot of under 7's found it scary. I was hoping Skitch or Stip or Sarge might chip in (actually Sarge won't as it's not released here yet).

I see a lot of them. They may be the only interesting movies coming out of Hollywood right now.

I thought Inside Out was more intense, but thats mostly because of what happened to poor Bing Bong. That shit haunts me to this day.

Nightmares? Or just a bit scared in the moment?

My kids were not frightened at all. They're 6 and 8. They both really liked it. I enjoyed it, but found it a bit ham handed at times with its messages. However, Jason Bateman's charm always wins me over.

Thanks guys. How about Kung Fu Panda 3 (or any of them)?

I have avoided Kung Fu Panda thus far. But I am so into everything How To Train Your Dragon, it's sickening. both movies, and the netflix series are all great. The Cartoon Network series is hit or miss.

I saw the first Dragon movie and it was pretty cool.

I got complimentary tickets to KFP3 and Zootopia. To be honest my boy doesn't see many films so we'll go and ditch it if he freaks out.

Ellie loved Kung Fu Panda.

Not nightmares scared. But parts are a bit intense and it's a surprisingly dark story (dimly lit, taking place at night), where it can be a bit tricky to follow the action and the story is too adult to really make sense to a 4 year old.

6 seems about right to me.

My wife took our 3yr old daughter and didn't mention her being scared by anything. That's usually a point of discussion when we take the kids to a movie. So, it must have been fairly clean of such stuff.
