Get rid of the top 50 seeds from last year and have the dregs face off.

Growing up, every summer my friends and I would compete in the Gus Macker basketball tournament. Since we were generally pretty bad, it wasn't uncommon for us to lose our first game (unless we were matched up with a truly abysmal team), and oftentimes our second, at which point we were reallocated to the consolation or "Toilet Bowl" bracket. Teams that won the "Toilet Bowl" bracket often received trophies, t-shirts -- truthfully, much better stuff than the people who made it to the real finals and lost, and even better since the losers' trophy was of a toilet and not of a dumb dancing basketball wearing a hat. We could do something like that -- for the first 2-3 rounds, vote like normal, only advance the losers instead of the winners. Then the "best of the worst" square off for the ultimate consolation prize -- the Pearl Jam Toilet Bowl award, which surely RM's animated .gif makers could have a bit of fun with.

Come to think of it, this is basically exactly what AB Norman suggested.

But I really think we could incorporate this toilet thing.

Failing that, I vote for my previously suggested "all 'Even Flow'" tournament, though I will probably decline to participate.

The problem with the worst song tournament is you end up with something like stupid mop as the winner because too many people go "well at least the other one is a proper song!". And if you want to keep songs like that out of it you end up with arbitrary lines for what defines a proper song.

I would either a) remove the songs that traditionally finish in the sweet 16, b) outlaw all songs from Ten (and maybe Vs. too), or c) exclude the competition to only songs from the No Code to Riot Act era (with the corresponding Lost Dogs tracks included too). Make it a true Cinderella tournament!

If we do the Toilet Bowl, this will not be an issue.

Yeah this is not a bad idea. But maybe get rid of a smaller number, like the top 20.

A tournament excluding all previous winners and a losers bracket like KD described would be my suggestions.

Guys, you cant have tournaments that exclude past winners, or non songs non songs songs. Whatever the outcome may be, whatever winner is crowned, there will always be an asterisk on it.

Just fucking do march madness and let the chips fall where they may. Dynasty's exist.

Nobody wants to spend 2 months voting for an inevitable final of Insignifance, Tremor Christ, Corduroy, and In My Tree. Just pick the winner now if that's the case.
