i recently saw bill c. play a show in austin. the show was unannounced, because he's testing some new material. he only did four songs, but they all sounded wonderful. he's figured out this material in a live setting in a way he hadn't with apocalypse's songs. very excited to have another record from him, i hope soon.

(somewhat related: thor (from swans) was sitting in, and i got to talk to him for a while about The Seer and swan's tour. it seems incredible to think that he can transition from swans to bill callahan, until you actually see and hear him play.)

Bill Callahan is great. 'Sometimes I Wish We Were An Eagle' is my fav. Also has great use of the subjunctive in the title.

I never really got him until that live record from a few years back. In college, I was already down the WIll Oldham rabbit hole and didn't really need another folky, lo-fi weirdo. But something about that live record clicked and I started to dig more. Fantastic stuff. The b-sides collection is great, and that EP he did with Albini is pretty solid. Add in the whole, driving Cat Power mental side story and he's the real deal.

They were an item for years. I think their split might of sent her over the edge a bit. But I'm no position to be speaking of that, since I don't really know. But, it is the internet.
