I wanted to do this one or New Orleans. I picked Jax thinking I could do a beach day, get a non-festival set, and the trip would not cost as much. Well now rain & storms are forecast for both Wednesday & Thursday, so much for the beach. And I hate long drives in bad weather.

The best Pearl Jam show I ever saw opened with Small Town so, while I agree it's not a very exciting choice, it can turn out OK.

Small town is meant to evoke campfire but that's quickly ruined by making it a bonfire with whatever big song follows.
They'd be better off keeping it for encore / breathe space
