Love this guy. "Ghost of David" and "I Break Chairs" and are probably my favorite albums, but he is amazingly consistent. Looking forward to "Visions of Us on the Land" in March.

to this thread. I was floored earlier this year when Secretly Canadian quietly began repressing And Now That I'm In Your Shadow on vinyl, which is my favorite record of his. It's in this part of the shelf somewhere:

I hadn't heard of this dude until I saw an indie film called Tumbledown this past April at the Tribeca Film Festival. He did the music for that film and "played" a singer/songwriter who died in the movie. The movie was decent, not great, but his soundtrack was outstanding. Been spinning him a fair amount since.

Coolidge was a band he was in with David Bazan, pre-Pedro the Lion. Bazan apparently found more recordings a few of years ago, but they were too damaged to release. I know Bazan has played on his albums and produced a few songs, but I'd love to see those two do a proper album together.
Here's a Coolidge track. It's very Get Up Kids-like emo. I think they were both still in high school.

Surprised by the number of Jurado fans who don't like "I Break Chairs". I fucking love it.

I hadn't listened to I Break Chairs in foreeeever but threw it on today Would love a vinyl repress.
I'm waiting for the LP to arrive for a full listen.
Speaking of: if you're looking for the limited edition 3-LP version, Bull Moose has it for like $28, which is the cheapest I've seen. Low stock it looks like, though.

Two times through "Visions of Us on the Land" so far. I like it.
I generally prefer his "folk" stuff to the psychedelic direction he's been on for this and his last 2 albums.
That being said, this one is probably my favorite of the three.

Also, a good interview with DJ from a couple of weeks ago.
I thought I was nuts. I thought I was crazy. Like committing myself to a hospital crazy, you know? I had this crazy moment and then what happens is that, directly after that, my life just took a total nosedive. I went from the light really into the black. That was in the fall of 2012 where things went dark. And then around that time, September, maybe two weeks before my latest son was born, I tried taking my life.

The deluxe vinyl edition is quite the package.
I'll have to give this a few more listens to digest more. I like the quieter tracks more and I love the demo discs, definitely.
