Read about this yesterday. Not bashing the US but it's baffling that that situation has been allowed happen and allowed continue in this day and age..

cant help but think it'd be fixed immediately if it were in a major city.

Ive defended the Governor on a lot of things, but this entire situation is indefensible.

There's going to be some serious lawsuits in the future for the state of Michigan. Any of those children who develop any sort of learning or mental disabilities from consuming the metals (ie. lead) in the water will be able to sue

Good for them for making the donation (though that group of companies could have easily afforded to donate more).

It's perplexing that something like this kind of water contamination can even happen.

I think this is a bizarre criticism though it gets wheeled out with regularity whenever someone wealthy makes a donation or contribution of this kind. 300k is extraordinarily generous. How much ought they give to stop those kind of snarky comments? 500k? A million? 5 million? It's asinine.

A million. A million would be nice.

It wasn't so much about the absolute amount of money. 100k is from PJ , the 200k is the sum from 7 companies including Live Nation, Universal Music Publishing Group and Ticketmaster and this is change money for them. Pearl Jam comes off as much more generous in comparison, so the cynical remark wasn't at all about them.
How the sum was divided between PJ and the rest caught my eye. It really doesn't matter as long as the money is put to good use.

I hate when a person/group/company does something charitable, and then retweets people congratulating them on the good stuff they're doing. Act like you've been there before.

They're doing that as a reminder for marketing purposes so that more people will donate and they can get to the $300k matching number. But don't let me disabuse you of your more cynical notions.

How much do they really need to fix some pipes?

While an economic analysis cannot yet be done based on our limited data, it is possible (and even likely) that the economic damage to the Flint pipe system due to corrosion is going to cost the city tens of millions of dollars more in pipe repair costs in the coming years compared to what they would have paid if they had stayed on Detroit water.

Home Depot has pipes that are a lot less expensive. Damn bureaucrats.
