Low Light has always been pretty but somewhat bland, with the weird shimmer on Eddie's vocals a way to try and make it more interesting.

Love Reign O'er Me is a spectacular cover. I think it exceeds the original at what the original was trying to do. Eddie's voice is as physical tangible as it maybe ever was in a song.

But Gonna See My Friend is a joy to listen to, a roaring playful send up of what would have once been a far more serious song. This should be a modern classic.

"Love Reign" is an impressively executed karaoke version of a great song. Eddie nails it, but in my view it's no different than anything happening on various singing competition shows every week. It deserves no votes here.

I have always liked "Gonna See My Friend" -- it strikes me as a weird cross between Dick Dale and Alice in Chains, and somehow I find this enjoyable rather than ridiculous. As time wears on I find "Backspacer" was a bigger part of my life than I realize it was, and as such find myself registering some of its songs in ways that transcend my more objective views on the album. This falls into that category somewhat.

But there's no way either of these songs is beating "Low Light." I adore this song and have ever since I heard "Yield" previewed on the radio -- it's so warm and optimistic, and sounds like the musical equivalent of its lyrics, of looking up at the sky and seeing two birds flapping about directionlessly, and somehow registering this as the ultimate metaphor for freedom without boundaries. Spot-on piano accompaniment, too. I was thrilled to finally see it live in 2014.

I quite like all of these, but Low Light pips it.

Low Light should crush these two. Gonna See My Friend sucks and Love Reign isn't even a PJ song (although the VH1 honors performance was spectacular, and in my view it was the last time Ed sang like an all time great rock vocalist).

Voting for Gonna See My Friend just because too many slow jams won the last round.

Low Light is good, not great, but I like it better than those other songs.

GSMF might be the best song on Backspacer, but it's still not better than Low Light.

I'd vote for almost any other song from the band's middle period records over Low Light.

I really dislike the LROM cover.

Low Light is top tier Pearl Jam.

LROM is awful.

GSMF is the only song I like from that horrid album, so I feel bad for not voting for it, but Low Light is way better.

Gonna See My Friend pretty easy for me.

GSMF deserves more love but Low Light is pretty solid too

Low Light is fucking amazing.

Low Light explores some nice spaces. I quite like Jeff tunes.
