This is tough. Help Help doesn't do much for me (I prefer it live--I don't like the distorted vocals on Riot Act, and the studio version feels a bit too overthought, and not as clever as it thinks it is. The unadorned live versions do a better job showcasing the core song, which is pretty good).

Deep is two up from the bottom on Ten, but it's Ten so that's not saying much. It's still maybe their most volcanic song--the hugest thing they've ever done.

But there's something that's so warmly appealing about Someday at Christmas, and there's not much else in their catalog that sounds like this--wise and innocent. It's the best of these types of covers. Same sentiment as something like Imagine that somehow manages to not feel trite.

Fucking LOVE this song so much.

I'm fond of the other two ("Deep" is one of my favorites on "Ten"), but "Someday at Christmas" is incredibly special to me. I've written about it at length elsewhere so I'll spare you, but suffice it to say it would be tough for all but my most favorite songs to beat it. It's a side of the band, moodwise, that I wish we had more evidence
of.

This is one of the toughest matchups for me. I really like all three of these, but Help Help is on another level for me. The wall of noise with Ed singing in the background is one of my favorite moments in the PJ catalog. I wish this is the sound the would pursue more, and at the time, it was the logical extension to Binaural and songs like Sleight of Hand.

And Help Help just gets better and better as it ages. It was one of my favorites on RA when it first came out and it's lost nothing over the years. Great tune.

I like "Help Help" a lot but I gotta go with "Deep" here.

Someday at Christmas, but I really think all these songs are high quality. Deep is still a favorite of mine from Ten, particularly those '94 live versions; the riff is positively brutal.

This is incredibly easy. Deep. The other two are irrelevant.

I have no issue with Help Help losing to Someday at Christmas. Again, SaC is a cover and shouldn't be in this contest. But since it is, fine, yes. It's a great song. Brilliant song. And this is a damn fine version. So, whatever. Help Help can lose to SaC and I'll make it through. But Deep?

I don't know what I'm gonna do, team. Help Help loses to Deep and I don't know what anything in life means anymore.

Deep is a damn fine song.

Deep is a beast, an X file. It's stayed the course. Help help has never been much to me.
