I'm not voting for Light Years. The best part of this song was put into Puzzles and Games. The lryics are fine but the song is so clunky it totally undermines the sentiment for me.

10 Billion Years is quite nice, but I've always had a soft spot for Leavin' Here. It's one of their best covers, and got a lot of play in 1995 when I was starting to expect new pearl jam music every year and was desperate for anything.

I'm voting for Leavin' Here for now, but that may change.

I will destroy this forum if Light Years doesn't win.

Very thematic match up.

Absolutely gotta be 10 Billion Years. That song destroys me.

Leavin' Here is a cover and thereby doesn't exist in this tournament. So this is really only a two song match. Light Years is a worthy competitor and a likely victor. But goddamn 10 Billion Years is just... so satisfying and delicious.

I gotta go light years. I love that Mike and Ed re worked the song to give us something a little more.....uneasy. I love the melody, the lyrics, the guitar parts. That bridge is a wonderful transition as well.

I just love binaural so much. Leaving here is their best cover and one of ed's best vocal performances. Jack is wonderful on it but ultimately its a cover and i just cant do that.

10 billion years is super beautiful but it just doesnt hit the highs that Light Years does for me.

Dammit, another two of my faves. I'll vote for Leavin' Here today. It encapsulates so much of what I love about this band, and love that a track like that came out on a weird comp. But I could easily vote for Light Years on another day.

If Leavin' Here gets more total votes than 10 Billion Years...

Light Years is one of those rare songs (along with In Hiding, I Am Mine, Around the Bend, Thin Air, and maybe even Amongst the Waves) that has really grown on me over the years. Whenever I first heard Binaural, I was so turned off by this song. It just left a bad taste in my mouth for some reason. I think I skipped it more often than not. Now I freakin' love it and I have no idea why.

At a certain point in my life, I just wanted all my PJ to be raw and heavy (like Vs, Green Disease, DTE, etc.) and I always had a harder time digesting some of their lighter material (see above), or at least songs that I felt should have had a harder edge (which was probably over half their catalog). But now that's the stuff (maybe ever since Benaroya?) that really jumps out at me and gets me excited about PJ. Strangest Tribe, Parachutes, NAIS, Who You Are, etc. Maybe I'm just getting old?

My Pearl Journey (I'm so sorry I posted that. Feel free to ban me, Ruddo) started on the lighter. I've always been more attracted to the quieter moments: Oceans, Black, Release, Small Town, Daughter, Indifference, Hard to Imagine, Wash, In My Tree... and on and on.

The rockers usually have to work harder to get my attention. Maybe I was born old.

I voted for 10 Billion Years, even though I love Light Years. I'd just rather hear 10BY right now.

It's the compositional strength of Light Years vs. the raw playfulness of Leaving Here. I prefer that latter today. Completely stymied as to how anyone could put 10BY ahead of either of these two.

10 Billion Years and Light Years are both fantastic.
Voted Light Years but I might change it later.
