I've never liked Of the Girl very much--it's an interesting piece of music that doesn't go in a direction I find compelling as a song. Swallowed Whole is a good song that, more than most on L-Bolt, suffers from the sterile and mechanical production. It's completely inappropriate for the song, which should feel much more wild, free, and expansive.

Last Solider is a minor song, but it's well done with a few surprisingly touching moments, especially given the author.

Vote for Last Soldier.

i love all 3 of these songs, but of the girl takes this one for me

Agreed. Swallowed Whole sucks donkey balls.

I got something Swallowed Whole can swallow whole, right here.

The production of it is terrible. It could be a fine song if it would go towards a more garage rock sort of vibe but mccready's wankery and the polished production really drags it down.

Last Soldier deserves a nod for being a terrific, under-appreciated song. But Of the Girl is absolutely transcendent.

I voted for last soldier. But I would also vote for swallowed whole over of the girl

I really love Swallowed Whole, and don't understand why it's not more loved here, but Of the Girl is easily top 10 PJ for me. I would be happy if this beauty ran the table from here on out.

People around here seem to really like Swallowed Whole, as far as Lightning Bolt songs go, anyway. But it drew the short straw. There's no way it can stand up to Of the Girl.

Well, that hasn't been my impression... but that certainly makes me feel much better about voting against it!

It seems like I'm really one of a handful that doesn't really care for it. Or at least that's what it felt like in the months after the album dropped. Maybe that's shifted some. I don't know. I don't post a lot in PJ Chat anymore. Unless it's March Madness.
