NAIS, unless we were voting for Iceagecoming's Parting Ways
But we're not

Great Binaural matchup. Both can be transcendent live (see Ed at Seven Worlds Collide).
Gotta go NAIS because it's more of a full-band performance that rises to special heights.

Fuck, I really love NAIS but Parting Ways is one of my favorite things the band has ever done.

The correct answer is NAIS. Detroit 2000 forever!

NAIS is great live, but kinda boring on the album.
This is an album version contest.

Parting Ways for me. But it's a see-saw.

In year's past, I would have gone for PW in this match-up. PW was, and still remains one of my favorites, but it has dipped slightly in the rankings. At this particular moment, I like NAIS more.

I'm fine with either one of these advancing.

This and the Of the Girl/Long Road matchup feel like the two hardest decisions thus far. Both of these songs mean a lot, and I'm tempted to go for Parting Ways; there's few songs in the catalog that match the devastation you can feel in the conclusion of those 2000 live versions. Nevertheless, I'm saying NAIS; I watched this a few days ago and it makes a better case as to why it should win than I ever could:

One thing I really like about Ed's work in this song is his restraint; it would have been so easy for him to go big on that last chorus, but he remains the one foundational part of the song that stays constant. I love the feeling Mike and the band evoke of the singer's world collapsing around him while he keeps singing the same song in the same manner.
