Two awesome Yield songs showcasing different styles but Brain of J is a cut above.

In Hiding doesn't deserve to have made it this far, and it hasn't had stiff competition.

Brain of J has had to beat Alive and Given to Fly, and probably faces Last Exit next round.

If it makes it to the finals, no one can say it had an easy go of it

Brain of J

Both awesome songs, but I'll give In Hiding some love since BoJ's going to take it down anyway.

I mean it is a good song, but what do I know. RVM is losing to a middle-of-the-road song right now.

Brain of J will win. It will be a slaughter.

In Hiding is now and has always been the better song to my ears. So it gets my vote. Even if I'm the only one.

Won't be mad when it loses though. Brain of J is a fantastic song and deserves to advance.

BOJ for me. In Hiding is nice n'all, but it's run ends here.

I'm going with Brain of J this year; it's a perfect meld of Yield's poppier sensibilities and the band's Go/Last Exit aggressive side. However, I do find all this ragging on In Hiding pretty distressing; it's a hell of a song.

I think In Hiding is musically fantastic, but it's all ruined by some pretty embarassing lyrics.

and it's clearly a message song, which draws attention to the lyrics. Same issue with Off He goes, though in hiding lyrics are worse

I voted for "Brain of J" but I have zero issue with the lyrics to "In Hiding". They serve the melody well and aren't ill-fitting or awkwardly-worded; any eyeroll-inducing ponderousness is offset by the quirkiness of the music and Ed's delivery. Not the band's greatest lyrical moment but nowhere near their worst.

See, I don't have the same problem with Off He Goes. I get that Ed is singing about himself, but it could just as easily be about anyone who is too busy and always on the go. In Hiding, on the other hand, is coming from an especially privileged, and there naval-gazy, viewpoint.

Certainly not their worst, but where you hear ponderous lyrics offset by quirky music, I hear ponderous lyrics that detract from the expansiveness of Stone's guitar lines.
