If you told me Tremor Christ was Pearl Jam's finest composition I might not agree, but I wouldn't argue.
If you said the same thing about Hail Hail I most certainly would.

Hail, Hail, I guess. Another example of two songs that work on a similar plateau. Insignificance and Evolution are probably my 1&2 PJ songs, and these probably hover somewhere in the top 15 or so.
Interesting (though I guess not too surprising) how quickly the non-previous winners got filtered out. Hail, Hail is the only song left that hasn't won previously.

That's how the tournament was designed this year: 7 previous winners vs winner of the main tournament (Hail Hail).

Oh, whoops. I thought the finalists entered when there were a bunch of non-finalists still left.

This might've been better, actually. Get a final 8 from the main tournament then pitch them against the 8 previous winners.

I love Tremor Christ, but I think part of what I love about it is it's underdog/sleeper status. It's a terrific song buried in the band's least accessible album. There's no obvious hook, and most casual fans would probably have just a vague memory of it at best. It feels like a deep cut that could only be appreciated by the die-hards. Elevating it to March Madness Champion status might be flying a bit too close to the sun; I'm content with my sleeper fave, and think Hail, Hail is the obvious answer here.
