RiffTrax

Post by Norah »

Anyone else a fan of these? I've seen two now at the movie theater and they've both had me in tears laughing. First was Birdemic a few months back and tonight I saw Plan 9 From Outer Space that was being riffed live in Tennessee and streamed out to theaters across the country.

Edit: Actually they were both being shown live. I didn't know that when I was watching Birdemic.

They had movie quotes and shit on the screen before it started, but they were all wrong somehow. They did one on that "you're tearing me apart!" line that Jorge loves from The Room. But it was gone before I could snap a picture.

There's little in this thread that is easy for the RiffTrax unacquainted to follow, Pete.

It's basically Mystery Science Theater 3K. Same guys doing essentially the same thing, but without a tv show.

No, they play shitty movies and make fun of them while you watch. They also sell their commentary tracks independently of popular movies that they can't afford the rights to so you can sync them up yourself.

It is the same people that did mst3k, that's pretty sweet, i used to watch the show all the time when i was in high school. I watched the birdemic one after your first post and didn't really like it cuz i thought it was ripping off mst, but it was pretty damn funny

Rifftrax is good, yeah. Like MST3K, there are definitely some movies that they're just ready and cracking on, and others where their commentary is more boring than the film itself. I wouldn't have cried at a chance to see Cinematic Titanic either, but.

Hey chud, aside from finding them on a torrent site, are there any places to watch these for free or do the all cost a few bucks?
