This is real close. Two songs that I like in the context of their album, but never seek out on their own. While I might like the alternate version of Why Not Smile the best of all these songs, there is something so lush and inviting about even the more marginal songs on Reveal that is really appealing.
Gonna vote for Beat a Drum since I wish summer was here.

I find Why Not Smile very unique to their catalogue, and a bit more musically interesting on repeated, focused listening.
I love Beat a Drum, and it is certainly more accessible, and lyrically very pretty, and I am a huge sucker for a horn section.
Tough call for me.

Beat a Drum reminds me of driving in the car on a scorching hot Thursday afternoon in July or August.

There's an alternate mix of "Beat a Drum" from an early Reveal promo that I love. It's similar to the final album version, but minus a lot of the extra drum programming and effects. (It was still called "All I Want" on the promo.) It sounds more "R.E.M." to me.
(I'd throw it on YouTube if I didn't think it'd get wiped out by Universal.)

Nope - I think it's actually a rough mix of the album version. My memory is blanking, but I think the disc was referred to as Reveal Alpha (but that may have a fan name).
I pulled it off my iPod and threw it here:
(Btw - I kinda sorta want to do another Original Music Contest - if only for the totally selfish reason that I don't think I've completely finished a song since the last one. )

I'm not sure I am familiar with this one. I need to see if I have this on my harddrive somewhere.
