This is tough. I love both these songs. Wall of Death is one of their best covers, lush and beautiful with great harmonies. But departure has that great riff, catchy chorus, and infectious energy. It's nice to have an uptempo eulogy now and then.
Basically a tie, but I suspect wall of death will get less love, so I'll give it some.

"Wall of Death" is one of my favorite Richard Thompson songs from the Linda Thompson era; I'd vote for his original over "Departure," but not REM's cover.

First time hearing Wall of Death. A charming little number but I'm still going with Departure.
