Boy in the Well is a solid REM anthem that is trying, maybe too hard, to be a classic. it doesnt quite measure up to its ambitions, though its better than a similar song like ill take the rain.
i have an irrational love for voice of harold. for anyone who doesnt know, it is Michael singing the liner notes to some gospel record over the 7 chinese bros. music. ive tried to duplicate that feat with other albums. harder than it looks

I really like "Boy In the Well"; "Voice of Harold" is not interesting to me.

Boy in the well was my initial favorite song on Around the Sun. But as I've grown with the album I find myself more and more drawn to some of the other songs that sound a bit less like traditional REM (with the exception of Leaving NY)

There are a couple of chord changes in the song that I really like, and which feel slightly adventurous for REM. Call it a lesser favorite.

I'm listening to Olympia right now. That's gotta be one of the all time great live albums.

Totally agree. It is probably my most played REM release, honestly.
