Crush w/ Eyeliner. No contest.
Try Not to Breathe is REM by numbers. And I like it. But it sounds like so many other REM songs, albeit great REM songs. It has the quintessential REM-ness to it.
Crush is funky and weird and right up my alley.

Try Not To Breathe is one of their greatest. I don't think it's that much R.E.M. by the numbers. Maybe R.E.M. from 91-92 by the numbers.

I don't really hear that. But even if I grant you that, I'll say that Monster is unique within their catalog. Crush With Eyeliner is really fucking good. I just listened to both of these tracks and though Try Not to Breathe is a beautiful song, it just can't hang with the awesomeness that is Crush With Eyeliner. I'm bummed that this will be its last match.
