Ticketmaster Lawsuit Settlement - Free Tickets!

Check your ticketmaster account--I had 10 free tickets waiting for me (eligible shows haven't been announced yet, and I'm not anticipating them being good ones).
After nearly a decade of legal wrangling, the class-action lawsuit against Ticketmaster—known as Schlesinger v. Ticketmaster if you’re introducing it to your parents—finally resolved in 2011. But it’s taken the ticketing service another five years to get the court-ordered settlement—issued due to the persistent overcharging for which the company is infamous—to consumers. That day is finally upon us, though, with “Sorry we screwed you!” vouchers and discount codes arriving in the Ticketmaster accounts of more than 50 million customers today.

Given that you probably skimmed right over the e-mail the company sent out back in May, and its alluring “Schlesinger v. Ticketmaster Class Action Settlement – Notice Regarding Discount and Ticket Codes” subject line, now might be a good time to dig up your Ticketmaster account credentials and see if there’s anything waiting for you on their site. Besides the discount codes—for $2.50 per purchase made between October 21, 1999 and February 27, 2013—you should also find a set of vouchers, each good for a pair of tickets to certain events—specifically, those held at the company’s Live Nation venues. Unfortunately, the company’s list of eligible events isn’t finalized yet—because no aspect of this process can be anything less than a slow-burning garbage fire, apparently—but you can still go to the “Active Vouchers” section of the Ticketmaster site and see if you’ve got any court-mandated goodies waiting for you.

nice I got 15 free pairs and a bunch of voucher coupons. I wouldn't preferred a check for the extra they ripped me off over the years but oh well.

lol @ the internet thinking many/most/any tickets will be available for those free tickets. the best chance you have is lawn at sheds for empty concerts offered a week in advance where they hope to make beer money off of you.

i'm excited about the $2.50 off coupons but all that means is all tickets till 2020 will be $2.50 more.

I got shit, too. Neither here nor my UK account.

Was this worldwide or US only?

It was exciting for about five seconds, but the fine print basically says this: TM gets to choose which shows have free tickets available and how many to each show. Probably the best case scenario for me is that The Wiggles are included.

Something tells me Def Leppard and Gwen Stefani in Mansfield will be offered up, the Def Leppard show might be the first they make available since that's less than a week out, both of those shows aren't selling shit

Part of me wonders if they'll partner with Gillette to offer Guns N Roses tickets for that second show that also hasn't sold jack shit
