This doesn't premiere on HBO proper until 7/10, but I guess the first episode is available on demand now. I'll watch tomorrow to be back for discussion.

Yeah, I may hold off on checking out the premier now so as not to have to endure a long wait for more.

And I think the premiere is going to benefit from a re-viewing, actually. I won't post anything spoiler-ish until it's actually aired, but there's something that happens near the end of the episode that makes me want to go back and pay closer attention to some stuff.

What's stopping you? Tell the wife you're busy, then call and cancel the Wizard of Oz cosplay meeting.

The 2nd episode is still like 2 weeks away :-(

Some quick thoughts on the plot of the premiere/where I think this is going. I'm going to watch again soon and wait to comment on performances/tone/and stuff like that then, now that I've got a clear idea of what's going on (spoilered for now since the first episode hasn't "aired"):
Spoiler: show
If we had Nas's lawyer's (the Jesus's) perspective right now, things would look pretty bleak: he was read his rights but the interview and collection of evidence went so far before he asked for a lawyer that things are looking pretty bleak. But there have been a few "Hmmmm...." moments that are going to pop up again in the future, where people either made mistakes or outright lied. The big one is the breaking of the chain of evidence when it comes to Nas's clothes and stuff--when his lawyer finds this out, he'll be able to exclude all of that. The next big one, which is smaller, is that Bodie lied about being alone when he saw Nas and the girl head into her place. He was pretty adamant about being by himself, so there's something bigger going on there. The fact that the cops didn't give Nas a breathalyzer could also be significant, as that was another "break in custody" as it were.

Here's something I'm hoping for: I hope the show holds onto the possibility that Nas did commit the crime. We've been conditioned to believe that he's being set up or that there's something else going on--i.e., he's just a regular kid who's out of his element, he made a few mistakes and got mixed up in something, etc.--but the series will be a lot more interesting if they either lean on the possibility that he could be guilty (even if he was so intoxicated that he doesn't remember) or if, in the end, he ends up being the killer. I'm very excited to see how it turns out.
