I want this rumor to fucking die already.

I'm not saying there couldn't be a good live TV series. But it's not something I need/want. If it happens, I'll watch and hope its good. But I'm not dying for a tv series.

Looks real enough this time

For over a decade now rumors have circulated about a possible live action Star Wars television series. "Star Wars: Underworld" was a series that was developed by George Lucas himself, and ultimately shelved, prior to the Star Wars creator selling Lucasfilm to Disney. Ever since Disney took over there has been talk that Underworld, or something like it, could be brought to the small screen. Now it appears we have our first bit of hard evidence that a new series is actually on the way!




Entertainment Weekly is reporting that at the Television Critics Association’s semi-annual press tour the ABC network's entertainment president Channing Dungey was quizzed about the possibility of a new primetime Star Wars television series. Dungey not only expressed interest in the proposition, but confirmed that negations are indeed happening regarding a new series. Here's what she had to say:

“Oh, as a fan, I would absolutely love to say ‘Yes’... The conversations with Lucas, we have had conversations with them and will continue to have conversations with them. I think it would be wonderful if we could find a way to extend that brand into our programming.”

Later she further confirms that talks between Lucasfilm and ABC are "ongoing" and that an official timeline has not yet been established. Dungey would not confirm if this proposed series will be live action, but that's something that seems like a given anyway.

After many years of hoping and speculating, it sounds like we're on the cusp of live action Star Wars storytelling finally making the jump to the small screen(no, the Holiday Special doesn't count). This is incredibly exciting news!

That says nothing more than anything said previously, if you ask me.

Yeah, it's an 'I'll believe it when I see it" thing for me. Lucas & Co. had something like 120 episodes of Underworld written and ready to be produced/filmed and it never took off.

People want this and they want to do it the right way. I believe people are trying to make this happen and are really looking into it. But we'll see if they can ever actually get it to fly.

Do they wander into over saturation if they go the tv route though?

Does It diminish the Star Wars magic ? I'm a super fan but I think it's too far unless the stories are truly great

Just let netflix handle it. They are amazing.

If I get sick of something, its my own damn fault.

Bring on as much as you can bring on. The good stuff will last and i can always enjoy when im up for it

Maybe that vast faction of the fan base who are obsessed with the EU that's been discarded will be pleased and they'll tell some of those stories? Lot of those books would work really well as series. And you could have several storylines running parallel.

So this series is much much further along in development than they're letting on, and it seems we're going to be seeing it sooner rather than later. No word on the what period it's set in yet though.

If it's a series based in between 6 and 7? I'm in.


No interest in some Knights of the old republic thing or a gritty dark thing about bounty hunters and the seedy underworld. I'm not sure Star Wars as a series is a good idea tbh
