This is going to be a very common occurrence with the TOTD shows coming up this year. From Rolling Stone's article today on Ten's 25th anniversary:
Formed out of the ashes of Mother Love Bone – whose frontman Andrew Wood died of a heroin overdose in March 1990, shortly before the release of Apple, their lone full-length album – Pearl Jam were determined to avoid MLB's costly excesses and mistakes.

Woah, there's going to be a TOTD tour? That's like the greediest idea since the invention of the Big Mac.

... Still, it's important to look back on Pearl Jam's debut and its impact on music. Not only because the album turns 25 years old on Aug. 27. But also because "Ten" serves as the crowning achievement for a band that should coast into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame during an induction ceremony next April.
Formed out of the ashes of Mother Love Bone, a band that might have become the quintessential grunge act had its lead singer not overdosed on heroin, bassist Jeff Ament and guitarist Stone Gossard would look towards a new project. But it was the additions to the lineup that would give Pearl Jam its distinct sound and personality.
Original drummer Dave Krusen served as a steady force on "Ten's" best songs, from the one-two punch of "Alive" and "Even Flow" to the energetic "Why Go." ...

I'm no scientist, but wouldn't it be really really difficult to form something out of ashes?

It can form a cinder block. Cinder blocks can help build a foundation. MLB built PJ's foundation. Yada yada yada PJPJ \ PJJP \ EPJPJE begins.

Yada = Dave A and his penchant for trickling the hi hat
yada = Ed's manopause / monkeywrench persona
yada = frittatas of unhappiness with Stone
yada = Jack Irons doing his best impression of a sane person capable of interacting with other humans
yada = PRAMG

Technically this does not say ashes, but close enough. #5 on the list.

Explaining Temple of the Dog to anyone who didn't live through the grunge era requires a series of intricate flow charts, a laser pointer and a thirty minute explanation of the devastating impact of Mother Love Bone frontman Andrew Wood's death on the Seattle music community. Recorded before anyone heard of Eddie Vedder, this Pearl Jam/Soundgarden mash-up band produced one unforgettable song. You either know every word of the thing, or it sounds like one guy screaming and another guy mumbling about their intense appetites. You probably also wonder why a single teardrop falls down your dad's face when it comes on the 1990s channel on Sirius.
