My ongoing boner for Dave A says that he was more valuable for Vs or Vitalogy but even I have to concede that Stone and Ed drive those respective beasts.
Nice write up, Tragablippetyshowdog.

What did you do with the real stip?
This post should have been at least 2,000 words.

Ten: Stone
Vs.: Dave
Vitalogy: Ed
No Code: Jack
Yield: Ed... Tough one, but his openness to singing other people's lyrics was a turning point that would define the next 2 albums.
Binaural: Jeff
Riot Act: Matt
S/T: Ed
Backspacer: Ugh
LB: Who cares

Stip must really be depressed about the election I figured this thread would get a 1000 word post out of him easy.

Ten: Stone (Ed was great, and wrote some of his best lyrics, but the music he made until Ten was hardly worth listening to, Stone made it all possible, and the album would have been great with Cornell or Staley as vocalists as well)
Vs.: Stone
Vitalogy: Stone/Ed
No Code: Jack/Ed
Yield: Mike
Binaural: Jeff/Mike
Riot Act: Matt/Ed
S/T: Group effort
Backspacer: Ed
LB: Jeff

Jeff and Matt on ST is a good call. I don't understand your choice for Mike on Backspacer at all, though.
I really like his work there...the guitars in GSM, The Fixer...the little patterns in Got Some and his work in Force Of Nature are great too, specially because its a different style for him.

Ten: Stone (I totally get the votes for Ed, but this album doesn't exist without Stone)
Vs.: Dave A (this was the toughest for me, but Dave A brought so much to this band)
Vitalogy: Ed
No Code: Ed (1994-1996 was such an incredible period for Ed's songwriting
Yield: Jeff (I love Low Light and Push Me, Pull Me)
Binaural: Jeff
Riot Act: Matt
Avocado: Stone (the return of Stone cowriting a heavy song with Ed)
Backspacer: No one (I know this was low hanging fruit, but excluding the first two songs, I really don't like this album)
Lightning Bolt: Jeff

The MVP of Ten was Epic Records for their extraordinary marketing efforts

Ten - The guy who created and/or directed the Jeremy video. That thing on MTV sold this album and made them blow up
Ten - No, really. Stone. It was his band and his songs for the most part
Vs - Dave A
Vitalogy - Ed
No Code - Jack
Yield - BoB - this album sounds absolutely perfect
Binaural - Stone - wrote music and lyrics to Thin Air, Of the Girl, and Rival
Riot Act - George Bush. No, wait, it was Boom, No, really. Group effort. No MVP
Backspacer - Target
Lightning Bolt - Jeff, not even close. Seems to be the only one that really cared. Mike got Sirens. Nobody else other than Jeff gave a shit.
